Not shelves full of gear. Not some grand plan to become a BBQ retailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It started as a side hustle at weekend markets and street food events in Sydney, cooking Arrosticini over charcoal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arrosticini are small lamb skewers from Abruzzo in Central Italy. For us, they were more than something to sell. They were tied to family, food memory and the kind of cooking that makes people stop, turn their head and ask what smells so good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That smell became the start of BBQAroma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The question people kept asking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the stall, people would often ask what marinade we used on the lamb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The answer was usually much simpler than they expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was not a heavy marinade or a secret sauce doing all the work. It was lamb fat rendering over charcoal. It was smoke, heat and fire adding that recognisable BBQ flavour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was one of the early lessons. When the fuel is right, the heat is right and the food is cooked properly, you do not always need to hide it under too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Charcoal has a way of making simple food feel special. It gives you aroma, theatre and flavour before the first bite even lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Different cultures, same pull<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The more we cooked, the more we noticed something familiar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cultures all over the world have their own version of cooking over fire. Same pull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fire, smoke, flavour and people gathering around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That connection mattered to us. It showed that BBQ was not just one style of cooking. It could be a family meal, a street food memory, a weekend ritual, a serious low and slow cook, a quick steak after work or a whole table of food shared with people you care about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That idea still sits at the centre of BBQAroma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From cooking food to helping people cook<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opening a BBQ store was not about walking away from food. It was the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We had seen how much curiosity there was around charcoal cooking. People wanted to know what we were using, how we were cooking, why it tasted different and how they could do something similar at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The questions were practical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What BBQ should I buy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What charcoal should I use?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How do I control the heat?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Can I cook this in a small backyard?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What do I need for low and slow?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is worth buying, and what will just sit in the shed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those questions shaped the business as much as the products did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BBQAroma grew because people did not just need gear. They needed guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Opening the store changed the conversation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we opened our retail store in Leichhardt, Sydney, the conversation became bigger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Customers were not only asking about Arrosticini or charcoal grills. They were asking about smokers, kamado cookers, pellet grills, outdoor kitchens, fuel, rubs, sauces, accessories, spare parts and the right setup for the way they cooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people were just starting out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some had been BBQing for years but wanted to move into charcoal or low and slow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some wanted a simple setup for family meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some wanted to feed a crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some hospitality customers needed gear that could handle regular use and keep delivering flavour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each customer had a different starting point. That meant the advice had to be different too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why we became selective with brands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years, BBQAroma began importing and selecting brands with a simple question in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Will this help our customers cook better and enjoy the process?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were never interested in filling the store with every shiny thing that came along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BBQ gear needs to make sense. It needs to suit the cook, the space, the food, the fuel and the budget. It also needs to be something people can keep using with confidence after the first weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is why curation matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good BBQ store should not overwhelm people with options. It should help them narrow the options down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right choice for one customer might be a simple charcoal grill. For another, it might be a kamado. For someone else, a pellet grill or smoker might suit the way they cook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point is not to push everyone into the same answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point is to help people find the right fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The BBQ journey does not start with a product<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most customers do not really start by choosing a model number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They start with a feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They want better steak. Better ribs. Better roasts. Better pizza. Better weeknight meals. Better weekends with family and mates. Sometimes they just want to finally understand charcoal without feeling like they are guessing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the discovery process we care about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What do you like cooking?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How many people do you usually feed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you want quick cooks, long cooks or both?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How much space do you have?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you want charcoal, gas, pellets, wood, or a mix?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you want something simple, or do you enjoy learning the fire?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These questions matter because they stop people buying the wrong thing for the wrong reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advice before and after the sale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selling a BBQ is only part of the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The real test comes when someone gets it home, lights it for the first time and starts cooking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is where support matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We help customers with setup, fuel choice, heat control, accessories, spare parts and troubleshooting. We help them understand what is normal, what needs adjusting and what will get better with practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes the answer is a product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes it is a method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes it is simply telling someone to stop opening the lid every two minutes and let the BBQ do its job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is said with love, of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Good advice saves money, time and frustration. It also helps people enjoy the gear they already have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Australian BBQ has changed, and so have we<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BBQ in Australia has grown a lot since we first started cooking at markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More people are interested in charcoal, smoking, low and slow, live fire cooking, outdoor kitchens, better fuel and food with a bit more character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That has been good to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But more choice can also make things harder. There are more BBQs, more accessories, more opinions and more noise than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our role is to help make sense of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BBQAroma has grown from a market stall into a store, an importer, a product curator and a guide for customers at different stages of their BBQ journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The business has changed, but the centre has not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is still smoke, fire, flavour and helping people cook better food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Still built around the same idea<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first market stall taught us something we still believe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People remember food cooked over fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They remember the smell. The sound. The wait. The first bite.
